Transformers are generally transported using a lifting transport mechanism.

Small transformers are loaded and unloaded by crane. When lifting, the lifting lugs on the tank wall should be used. It is strictly forbidden to use the lifting rings on the top cover of the tank. The hook should be aligned with the center of the transformer, and the angle between the sling and the plumb line should not be greater than 30º. If this is not met, use a special beam for hanging.

When lifting about 30 mm, you should stop and check whether there are any problems with each part, whether the transformer is balanced, etc. If it is unbalanced, it should be recalibrated and make sure there are no abnormalities everywhere before continuing to lift.

When the transformer is installed on the trailer, put wooden boards on the bottom and secure the transformer with ropes to prevent sliding or tipping during transportation. During transportation, the vehicle speed should not be too fast to prevent damage to the internal insulation components of the transformer due to severe impact or severe vibration.

When the transformer arrives at the installation site, a comprehensive physical inspection should be carried out. Check whether the transformer has any defects that cannot be detected by visual inspection due to severe vibration or impact during long-distance transportation and handling, such as core bolts loosening, so that it can be dealt with in a timely manner to ensure the installation quality.

Inspection items and requirements are implemented in accordance with the "Code for Acceptance of Power Transformers in Electrical Installation Projects" (GBJ 148-90). When the transformer meets one of the following conditions, the body inspection is not required:

01. The manufacturer stipulates that no physical inspection is required; transformers with a capacity of 100 kV·A and below without any abnormality during transportation;

02. The transformers have been assembled by the manufacturer, the quality meets the requirements, and the transformers have been transported for short distances. Effective supervision has been carried out during the transportation process, and no abnormal conditions such as collisions, severe vibrations, and severe bumps have occurred.

Transformer installation
 
There are two types of transformers: oil-immersed and dry-type transformers. Due to their differences in structure, performance, etc., their installation will not be different. Let’s give a detailed introduction:

Installation requirements for oil-immersed transformers

The installation forms of oil-immersed transformers include: pole installation, outdoor open-air installation, indoor transformer installation, etc.

Pole installation is to fix the transformer on the pole, using the pole as the skeleton, and erect it off the ground. Outdoor installation is to install the transformer outdoors in the open air and fix it on the reinforced concrete foundation.

Indoor transformer installation is to install the transformer indoors. The transformer should be installed in the correct position, with complete accessories, the oil level of the oil-immersed transformer should be normal, and there should be no oil leakage.

Among them, the key points they should pay attention to are:

01. When installing high and low voltage busbars, the centerline of the busbar should match the centerline of the casing. Special care should be taken not to subject the ends of the casing to additional tension.

02. Before connecting the busbars, the busbar contact surface must be processed. Copper busbars must be drilled and tinned; aluminum busbars must have transition contact surfaces between copper and aluminum to ensure good contact.

Installation requirements for dry-type transformers

When installing a dry-type transformer, the manufacturer cooperates to install the transformer box together. The four corners of the box bottom are welded and fixed to the foundation channel steel. The welding length is 20 to 40 mm long. The transformer body and shell are firmly grounded. The transformer body should be flush with the front of the panel cabinet and close to the switchboard cabinet without any gaps. The temperature control device operates reliably and indicates correctly, the fan system is firm and the steering direction is correct, and the phase and color signs are complete and correct. The thermostat, fan, and open door should be grounded using soft wires and should have good conduction.

It can be seen that the transportation and installation of transformers require standardized operating procedures and the support of skilled technical personnel. These are also the prerequisites for ensuring the normal use of the transformer. In this regard, as a transformer manufacturer, it is recommended that you choose a regular and powerful manufacturer to order transformer products, which can save you time and effort.
